Abstract

1337231 Protective arrangements HEINEMANN ELECTRIC SOUTH AFRICA Ltd 29 March 1972 14634/72 Heading H2K An earth leakage protective arrangement cornprises a core-balance transformer 10, means D1 . . . D3 to rectify the voltage induced in the transformer secondary winding 11, a first storage device, e.g. a capacitor C1, charged to a predetermined voltage by the rectified voltage, a first switching device T1, T2 energized by the first storage device when charged, a second storage device, e.g. a capacitor C2 charged by the rectified voltage to a voltage lower than the predetermined voltage, and a second switching device T3 energized when the first switching device is energized to enable the second storage device to discharge into and operate circuit interrupting means S1 via the device T3. Thus a small capacitor C1 is charged to a higher voltage to trigger the switching circuit T1, T2, and a larger capacitor C2 is charged to a lower voltage to provide power for the operating coil S1 of a circuit-breaker, the arrangement using the power output of the transformer more effectively than one with a single storage capacitor.
