Abstract
1336745 Holography; spatial filtering NIHON DENSHI KK 30 Nov 1970 [28 Nov 1969 (2)] 56904/70 Heading G2J The properties of an unknown sample are analysed by testing the sample in an analytical instrument such as a mass spectrometer, liquid chromatograph, optical spectrometer or, as shown, a nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus to produce an electric signal at circuit 5 which is detected at 6 and used to produce a pattern of light and shade on a film 13. This is then used to form a hologram and by passing coherent light through such hologram and through a standard hologram formed by using a reference material immediate indication is given as to the presence in the unknown sample of the reference material. The pattern of light and shade may be formed by electrically modulating an electron beam in unit 7 or by using an electro-optic modulator Fig. 6 (not shown).
