Abstract

1336391 Stabilizing polyolefins CIBAGEIGY AG 19 April 1971 [27 Feb 1970] 24372/71 Heading C3P Polyolefins are light stabilized by addition of 0À05% to 0À8% by weight of unstabilized material of a compound of general formula wherein R 1 is H, methyl, tert-butyl or tert-amyl and R 2 is methyl, tert-butyl, tert-amyl or tertoctyl and R 1 and R 2 together contain at least 5 carbon atoms and 0À05% to 0À8% of a 2-hydroxy - 4 -(C 8 - C 12 - alkoxy)-benzo - phenone, the total amount of stabilizing additives being 0À2% to 1À2% by weight of unstabilized material. The polyolefines include the homo- and copolymers of ethylene, propylene, 1-butene, methylpentene-1 and iso-butylene. Other additives include anti-oxidants, UV absorbers, metal deactivators, nucleating agents, peroxidedecomposers, softeners, anti-static agents, flame-proofing agents, pigments, soot and inorganic fillers. The examples describe stabilizing polypropylene.
