Abstract

1335992 HVDC power transmission BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 9 Dec 1970 [11 Dec 1969] 58524/70 Heading H2F In a short HVDC link connecting two A.C. networks, he transmitted power is adjusted by simultaneous conduction control of current and voltage in the link, said control being arranged to change the reactance of the inverter so as to maintain constant the voltage or power factor of the output A.C. network. The inverter is loaded by three-phase capacitors or filters for supply of reactive power. Simultaneous control of D.C. voltage and current in the inverter will then permit adjustment of transmitted power without variation of power factor. Alternatively, the power may be adjusted by variation of current (or voltage) of one converter whilst the network power factor is corrected by variation of the voltage (or current) of the other converter. A phase shifter and tapped transformer may be included on the A.C. side of the rectifier so as to maintain constant the voltage or power factor on the input A.C. side.
