Abstract

1335218 Fluid springs BARRY WRIGHT CORP 10 Dec 1970 [19 March 1970] 58716/70 Heading F2S A "piston" 25 supported in a chamber 13 by fluid under pressure is maintained at a constant height by inlet and exhaust valves 14, 32-34, the valve elements 43, 34 of which are rigidly interconnected. One of the valves must be in the "piston". As shown both valves are closed. If the piston rises, the valve seat 33 is withdrawn from the valve element 34 to open the valve and allow air to pass out until the piston returns to the mean position and closes the valve. If the piston falls below the mean position, the valve element 43 moves off the valve seat 42 and air under pressure is admitted until the piston rises, shutting off the valve. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the valve seats are universally mounted, the inlet valve is in the piston, and there is a fluid-containing diaphragm bounded bias chamber (64) above the piston. Fluid under pressure is applied to the inlet valve either directly or via the bias chamber. Three of the units mount a vibrating machine (not shown).
