Abstract

1334806 Crimping yarns HEBERLEIN & CO AG 19 April 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 20929/71 Headings D1F and D1W A process for crimping synthetic thermoplastic yarn consisting of individual filaments of non-circular cross section, comprises imparting to the yarn a temporary high twist which is at least 20% less than that determined by the formula: (where T is the number of twists per meter and D is the titre of the yarn in denier) and heat-setting the yarn in the twisted state at a temperature at least 55‹C below its melting point. The individual filaments may be of a multilobal, e.g. trilobal cross section, and may be a polyamide, e.g. polyhexamethylene adipamide yarn. The yarn(s) may be ply-twisted, perhaps with another textured yarn the filaments of which are of circular cross-section.
