Abstract

1513927 Bulking yarn by fluid texturing and heat shrinking VYZKUMNY USTAV PLETARSKY 29 Aug 1975 [6 Sept 1974] 35666/75 Headings D1F and DIW A hybrid textured and bulked yarn is obtained by passing threads 3, 5 of different shrinkability through a turbulent fluid texturing nozzle 10 to produce crimps and loops and intermingle the threads, and heat shrinking at least the more shrinkable threads to produce in them a specific shrinking stress of at least 0.1 p/dtex so as to enlarge and set the crimps and loops by passing the textured yarn 12 through heater 13. Generally the threads 3, 5 are each multicontinuous filament yarns but in example 3 the less shrinkable threads are supplied as a roving of staple polyester fibres and in example 4 the more shrinkable threads are staple copolyester fibres. The specified more shrinkable thread is an ethylene terephthalate/isophthalate copolymer of 40% shrinkability. The threads of lower shrinkability are of polyester, nylon, rayon, acrylics or polypropylene. In example 1 polyester filaments of 10% shrinkability are fed to nozzle 10 with 20% overfeed and copolyester filaments of 40% shrinkability are fed with 10% overfeed. The textured yarn is shrunk by heating to 150‹C. In example 2 filaments of different shrinkability are obtained from the same polymer by drawing one freshly extruded filament over one heater whilst another filament is drawn over two heaters. The bending moment may be reduced at intervals along the filaments by flattening or otherwise changing the filament crosssection, so as to make the length and frequency of the loops more controllable.
