Abstract

1334709 Thermal switches DIAMOND H CONTROLS Ltd 1 Nov 1971 [1 Sept 1970] 41826/70 Heading H1N A thermally controlled electric switch or an electrical energy regulator has a rotary control shaft 5 projecting through a housing 1 and carrying a projection 8 which in the datum or index position of shaft 5 is in register with a recess 11 in a bush 2 carried by housing 1, a spring 13 urging shaft 5 axially so that projection 8 enters recess 11 in the index position of shaft 5. To set the switch, shaft 5 is first depressed to free projection 8 from recess 11 and then rotated to rotate cam 10 to depress screw 21 to pivot lever 22 and leaf spring 28 about pivot 23 to raise stud 25 against contact unit 26, which may be snap action or slow break. Diaphragm 17 connected through capillary 20 to a phial raises pivot 23 in response to temperature charge to operate contacts 26.
