Abstract

1334703 Foamed polyethylene/ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer blends IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 4 May 1971 [3 June 1970] 26835/70 Heading C3C [Also in Divisions B5 and B7] A mud deflector for motor vehicle mudguards is made of a composition comprising a foamed cross-linked blend of polyethylene with up to 80% by wt. of a copolymer of ethylene and up to 28% by wt. of vinyl acetate of melt flow index (as defined) of not more than 5. The composition may contain up to 60% by wt. of a filler, e.g. whiting, talc, clay or silica. Zinc oxide may be added to the composition to form cells of even size, together with stearic acid. The cross-linking agent used in the example was α,α<SP>1</SP>-bis-(tert.-butyl-peroxy di-isopropyl)benzene and the foaming agent was azo-dicarbonamide.
