Abstract

1334522 Tiltable mountings for cameras &c DENNARD Ltd 2 July 1971 [2 July 1970] 32085/70 Heading A4H [Also in Divisions F2 and H4] A tiltable mounting for a TV or cine camera, surveying instrument, directional aerial, etc, comprises a base structure 7 and a moveable support plate 1 having means for attachment of the camera, etc. thereto and connected to the base structure 7 so as to be rotatable about a horizontal axis of rotation as it tilts, two pairs of pivoted links 5 connecting the plate 1 and the base structure 7 so that members 7, 1, 5 form a four bar straight line mechanism whereby when the support is rotated as it tilts the movement of its axis of rotation is substantially horizontal. The plate 1 may incorporate a wedge plate to provide adjustment of the camera position. The links 5 of each pair are parallel and are pivotally mounted at their ends on spindles 4, 6 mounted on plate 1 and structure 7. Base structure 7 is mounted on a tripod for rotation about a vertical axis. Plate 1 is provided with a handle. The axis of rotation of the support plate 1 coincides with the centre of gravity of the camera. For a camera with a differently located centre of gravity a light check spring may be added between structure 7 and plate 1 to bias plate 1 towards its horizontal position. The plate 1 may be releasably locked in its adjusted positions.
