Abstract

1332326 Laminated product SCOTT PAPER CO 5 Aug 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 37885/70 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions G2 and B2] Presensitized planographic plate comprises in order a substrate, a silicon rubber layer, a photoresponsive diazo sensitizer layer in adhesive contact with the silicon rubber layer, and an ink-receptive transparent polymeric film which is permeable to an aqueous developer solution, the sensitizer optionally being dispersed in the polymeric film. Preferably the plate is prepared by laminating the siliconecoated substrate with the polymeric film which contains, or is coated with, a diazonium photosensitizer and is on a releasable support which is subsequently removed. The plate is exposed so that the polymeric film becomes firmly bonded to the silicone rubber layer in the exposed areas, and the photosensitizer and polymeric film removed from the unexposed areas, e.g. with an aqueous developer leaving a plate having ink-repelling silicone rubber areas and inkreceptive polymeric film areas. In the examples release paper is coated with a layer of ethyl cellulose, copoly-(vinyl acetate/crotonic acid) or polyvinyl formal, butyral, acetate, pyrrolidone or alcohol optionally containing a dye containing or coated with a condensate of HCHO and p-diazo-diphenylamine zinc chloride optionally mixed with acrylic acid, and is laminated to a layer of uncured silicone rubber or gum on an aluminium support, the silicone being subsequently cured. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,146,618.
