Abstract

1331989 Gas cigarette lighters ETABS GENOUD & CIE 16 Dec 1970 [16 March 1970] 59631/70 Heading F4F A gas cigarette lighter comprises a pivoting cover 2 and a reservoir 4 which is detachable with respect to a head 1 and forms a unitary structure with (i) an internal mechanism for reducing gas pressure, e.g. washers 30 formed of a porous material, (ii) a valve 7, 8, (iii) a flint tube 10 and (iv) a flint wheel; an arm 20 is mounted in, and moves with, the cover 2 so that when the cover pivots the arm acts via a link 21 on a lever 22, causing a forked end 24 of the lever firstly to engage under a flange 9 on a stem 8 of the valve and then to move it outwardly with respect to the reservoir and through an aperture 31 in the head 1 thus opening the valve. When the gas reservoir is exhausted the case 3 is removed against the action of blade springs 25, 26, blade spring 26 is then tilted to disengage a claw 27, formed on the spring from a recess 28 in the reservoir and, with the cover closed, the unitary structure is detached from the head 1 and replaced by a new unit.
