Abstract

1331808 Shelves and like fittings; seat arrangements SOC ANON AUTOMOBILES CITROEN 20 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 16122/71 Headings B7B and B7J In a motor vehicle interior a deformable panel is secured to a first support and has an attachment device for co-operating both with a second support to render the panel horizontal thus forming a screen for hiding any luggage space therebelow, and with an intermediate third support to provide a generally concave upper load support and locating surface. In a preferred embodiment the panel is formed by rigid flaps 29, 30 hinged at 31 and arranged behind the back seat 2 by first support 3 and secured to second support means 22, 21 in the horizontal position, Fig. 1. Third support means include supports 23, 24, Fig. 2, 25, 26, Fig. 3 and 27, 28, Fig. 4. The panel has a fixed device 45, Fig. 6, for pivotally securing the panel to the support 3 and attachment devices 39 for co-operating with the second and third support means. The panel may comprise more than two rigid flaps and the flap 30 may be provided with concealable feet 34, Fig. 3. Fastenings 36 may be arranged on the two ends of the flaps for the attachment of a baby harness. As shown in Fig. 5 each support is formed of a plastics material provided with a cavity 38. The attachment device is formed by a ferrule 39 mounted to slide in a socket 40 attached to the flap 30. The ferrule 39 is held in its extended position under the action of a spring 41 for insertion into the cavity 38, the ferrule having a handle 42 for withdrawal of the attachment device. As shown in Fig. 6 movement of the different ferrules 39 is accomplished under the control of a system of linked rods. In another embodiment, Fig. 7, the panel comprises a flexible curtain 13, the support 3 being formed by two members 3a, 3b, Fig. 8, each formed by a spring-loaded rod 8 for sliding in a tube 9 and having a recess 8c to enable the insertion of a shouldered ferrule 11a of a guide strip 12 secured to the edge of the curtain 13. A lug 8d limits the travel of the rod 8 in the tube 9. A second guide strip is similarly secured at the opposite edge of the curtain for attachment to the second and third support means.
