Abstract

1331529 Electro-plating and electro-phoretic deposition TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO K K 20 Sept 1971 [21 Sept 1970] 43683/71 Heading C7B A solid lubricant composite of a fluorine-containing resin, e.g. PTFE, and a metal, e.g. Pb, Cu, Ni, In, Zn, Sn or Cr, is electrodeposited on to a metallic surface, e.g. buffed and degreased steel or Cu plate, as cathode in a metal plating bath containing the resin in dispersion and a cationic, nonionic or amphoteric surface active agent, e.g. (R 4 N)<SP>+</SP>X<SP>-</SP>, R-C 6 H 4 -O- (CH 2 CH 2 O)nH or (R 3 NCH 2 COO Na)<SP>+</SP>Cl<SP>-</SP> respectively, where R=alkyl, acyl or (in case of cationic agent) alkenyl, aralkyl, X = acid anion and n = 1 to 5. The deposit may be heated at 300-400‹C for 10-30 minutes. Degreasing of steel plate may be effected in a solution of Na 2 SiO 3 , as cathode for 50 seconds and anode for 30 seconds at CD 6 A/ dm<SP>2</SP> ; Cu plate may be degreased in nitric acid solution. Pb(BF 4 ) 2 and KCu(CN) 2 - KCN plating solutions are specified.
