Abstract

1330844 Prefabricated room units; methods of erection ELCON AG 29 Sept 1970 [10 Oct 1969] 49869/69 Headings E1A and E1S A prefabricated structural unit Fig. 1, adapted to receive wall and/or ceiling panels to form a room unit consists of a rigid floor portion 10 and at least one pair of columns 13a, 13b along one edge thereof of which at least one of the columns is spaced intermediate of the length of the edge to leave a portion 100 of the floor supported in cantilever fashion. Each structural unit is provided with re-inforcing ribs 11, 12 and is joined to an adjacent unit by welding together reinforcing rods or beam ends 16 projecting therefrom. Alternatively adjacent units may be interconnected by tension bars or cables extending therethrough and superimposed units by spigot-andsocket means or dowels. The unit, Fig. 11, may incorporate wall panels such as 46, 47, 55 and ceiling panels 48', 48b. The ceiling may be supported by temporary supports 49, 49' during transport and lifted with the aid of a frame 39 having pivotally depending tongues 40 adapted to be secured by pins 42 to sockets 41 in the tops of the columns 13a, 13b, 13d. The units may be assembled together with the aid of a jig 37 having stops 44, 45 to engage the lower ends of the columns.
