Abstract
1329790 Laminated heatable transparent sheet SAINT-GOBAIN 19 July 1971 [20 July 1970] 33781/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division H5] A laminate or composite transparent sheet comprises a central glass sheet 1, a thinner glass sheet 2, 3 secured to each face of the central sheet by means of a layer 4, 5 of plastics, substantially parallel arranged electrical resistance elements 6, 7 in each layer of plastics, the elements in one plastics layer extending transversely of the elements on the other layer, and the thickness of each of the thinner glass sheets being such that as optical distortion is observed when the amount of heat generated on each plastics layer remains below 15 watts per square decimetre when the elements are supplied with constant, uniform electric current. Each plastics layer may be formed of a polyamide, cellulose acetate, cellulose acetobutyrate or polyvinyl butyral. The central glass sheet typically has a thickness of about 12 mms. and the thinner glass sheets have a thickness of 1 to 6 mm. The resistance elements 6, 7 may generally parallel sinusoidal resistance wires.
