1328501 Overbed tables GEORGE ELLISON Ltd 24 Aug 1970 [2 June 1969] 27775/69 Heading A4H [Also in Division E2] An overbed table comprises a base frame 10, supporting at least one upright 13, a horizontal member 17 secured to upright 13, a pair of transverse strips 20, 21 fixed to member 17, a pair of first hinged members 22, 23 pivoted at one end to respective strips 20, 21 about a first horizontal common axis and at their other end to brackets 26, 27 secured to a table top 19 about a second horizontal common axis, and a pair of second hinged members 24, 25 pivoted at their ends to strips 20, 21 and to brackets 28, 29 secured to top 19 respectively about third and fourth horizontal common axes, so that top 19 can occupy a lowered horizontal position in which the first and fourth axes and the second and third axes respectively coincide, so that the top 19 can be tilted from the lowered position about either set of coincident axes. Upright 13 is slideable on a leg 12 projecting upwardly from base frame 10, a nut fixed inside the upper end of leg 12 coating with a screw 14 carried in upright 13, the screw 14 being connected to a handle 15 by bevel gearing 16. A fixed horizontal table top 18 is mounted on member 17 by brackets 18a. Table top 19 can be locked in a tilted position by a nut 30 or 31 on a screw in the pivot joint between strip 20 and member 22 or member 22 and bracket 26. Each pair of adjacent pivot joints includes a snap engaging concave recess 32 and convex projection 33. A tray 34 is mounted by a groove on member 17 beneath top 19. (For Figures see next page)
