Abstract

1327873 Making moulds ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 3 May 1971 12673/71 Heading B3A In a method of forming a moulding die for making high-pressure textured surface laminates a die moulding plate is provided from a hard, heat-resistant metal, and the plate is polished and blasted with non-abrasive balls having a diameter of 0À010-0À040 inch. The plate is preferably of stainless steel and is electro-polished. It may be chromium plated and is blasted with chrome steel shot at a velocity of 4400-11,000 ft./min. The plating, polishing and blasting may be performed ir any order and the die is used repeatedly in forming the laminates, since the textured surfaces of the laminates do not adhere to the moulding plate.
