Abstract

1327638 Lubricating I.C. engines DAIMLERBENZ AG 18 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 15582/71 Heading F1B [Also in Division B1] A lubricating oil-pump intake 'device 10 in an I.C. engine sump comprises a hollow resilient member 11 which rests on the sump bottom 12 and has one or more oil-inlet openings 24. The dome shaped cover of the device is substantially fixed in position in the sump with the lower end 13 spaced from the sump bottom 12. The frustoconical intermediate section 25 of the member 11, between the beaded upper and lower ends, is resiliently deformable to compensate for installation tolerances between the cover and sump bottom. 'The annular metal closure plate 15 and :a mesh filter 16 are sealed in a groove 14 in the cover. 'The oil pump intake pipe communicates with the space 27 between the cover and filter 16.
