1327421 Knitting machines IROPA (TEXTILE ACCESSORIES) Ltd and P G SPRIGGS 16 Aug 1971 [25 Aug 1970] 40746/70 Heading D1C Oil is - fed in predetermined quantities at predetermined intervals from metering and distributing devices 43 to absorbent pads 20 (e.g. plastic foam) through slits or slots in which the yarns pass from yarn packages to feeds on a multifeed circular knitting machine. As shown, a rotary cylinder machine, which may have a needle dial, has a superstructure 14 with spindles for yarn packages 16 from which yarns Y pass through pads 20 to the motor driven spool 24 of a storage feed unit S.F.U. from which it is taken off in an axial direction. The quantity of yarn on spool 24 is sensed by a disc 27 which operates a microswitch. Each pad 20 is carried in a holder 29 on the end of oil supply pipe 34 which is mounted on brackets on units SFU. The oil is pumped from reservoir 38 under the control of a timer 40 connected to metering and distributing devices 43 which may have small pistons for forcing the oil through e.g. four pipes 34.
