Abstract

The system to deliver yarn to a knitting machine, partic. in the manufacture of patterned tricots, has a drum round which the yarn is wound in preparation for a length to be drawn off for use, with a detector ring for photo-electric monitoring of the state of the wound yarn, and to control the rotary speed of the winding unit passing the yarn round the drum. The system ensures that there is a constant supply of yarn for delivery, the take-off being an intermittent one, and keeping the yarn at a constant tension to prevent knitting faults in the finished fabric.
