Abstract

1326397 Multi-barrel guns GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 23 Nov 1970 [24 Nov 1969] 55555/70 Heading F3C A multi-barrel gun comprises a barrel carrying rotor 12 mounted on a housing 10, a plurality of bolt assemblies 32 equal in number to the barrels 20, each bolt assembly being movable in a bolt guide way 78 and a firing assembly. The firing assembly includes an annular cam 80 secured to the rotor and having a plurality of like ramp surfaces equal in number to the barrels 20. A spring loaded plunger 104 is mounted in the housing and is urged by the spring 114 into engagement with the cam 80 rotation of which causes a ramp surface to urge the plunger 104 progressively against its spring loading until the end of the surface is reached whence the plunger is released to act on that particular firm pin in the bolt assembly of the barrel which is in the firing position. In the construction shown the plunger acts on a hammer assembly 47, 60 though a downwardly extending lug 113. The bolt assembly movement and locking are effected by cams and cam followers.
