Abstract

1325925 Sharpening knives JOHN M PERKINS & SMITH Ltd 24 June 1971 [3 April 1970] 15972/70 Heading B3D A knife sharpener comprises a body portion 2 having an open-ended groove 4 along which a knife blade can be passed, and a sharpening implement 7 mounted in the body portion at each side of the groove to project into the groove so that the edge of the blade sweeps over the implements as it is passed along the groove. The body portion 2 is of metal and mounted in a channel in a convexly-shaped plastics holder 1. A hump 3 of the body portion is formed with the groove 4. The implements which may be of tungsten carbide, are formed with serrated inclined faces 11 and secured in holes in the body portion, the inclined faces forming an acute angle one with the other. The serrations may, or may not, be parallel, and each serration may have flanks at unequal angles.
