Abstract

1451916 Cutting apparatus S HAINSWORTH 4 Dec 1974 [4 Dec 1973] 56181/73 Heading B4B A scribing or cutting device 10 for cutting sheet material, e.g. laminated plastics, comprises a body portion having a surface defining a first side face of a slot 11 for receiving an edge of a sheet, a scribing or cutting tool 14 extending from the first side face and an arm 12 provided with a surface which defines a second side face of the slot, the arm being adjustable so as to vary the position of a guiding surface 12 thereon in relation to a plane containing the tool 14. The tool 14 is clamped by a member 13a to an arm 13 on which the first side face is formed. The tool is provided with means for locating it within a slot 15 in its correct position and may have two cutting edges arranged to permit a cutting action in opposite directions. In further modifications, the cutting edge may be formed with a plurality of teeth of sawtooth shape, or the tool may be of pointed form or a diamond stylus. The arm 12 is provided with a slot through which passes a bolt 20 so that the guiding face 12 on the arm may be adjusted in relation to the cutting tool. The body of the device may be made from metal, wood or plastics.
