Abstract

1325751 Chain saw handle; hand tool handles A STIHL 16 Oct 1970 [16 Oct 1969] 49206/70 Headings B4K and B5L A handle arrangement for a chain saw comprises a handle 7 adapted to be grasped by the hand of an operator and a support 8 adapted to receive the fore-arm of the operator. In one embodiment the handle 7 is fixed directly to the saw housing and the support 8 is pivotally mounted on the housing for pivoting movement about two perpendicular axes. In the embodiment shown the handle 7 and support 8 are fixed to a cover 6 mounted on the saw housing 1 by three vibration damping elements 9, 10, 11. A protective shield 35 is provided in front of the handle 7, and a lever 34 is also provided to control the operation of the saw. The upper portions of the handle 7 and support 8 may be connected by a rigid beam. The support 8 may be a single ring or be made up of two semicircular yokes.
