Abstract
1324537 Igniters for rocket motors BOFORS AB 15 Oct 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 49127/70 Heading F3A An igniter for the motor of a rocket assisted artillery projectile comprises a detonator 6 which is ignited on firing the projectile, a delay ccmposition 10 which is ignited by the detonator and burns without a flame and hot gases, a non-explosive primer 1 for the motor, and a slide 13 carrying flame producing pellets 17, either one of which on firing the projectile, is brought from a safe position into alignment with an aperture 4 and into contact with one end of the delay composition so as to be ignited. The slide is locked in the safe position by spring pressed bolts which are retracted under the action of centrifugal force. The slide is also moved to the armed position by centrifugal forces. The detonator 6 is biased by a spring 8 but sets back against a striker 9 upon firing the projectile.
