Abstract

1324351 Optical apparatus BARR & STROUD Ltd 21 Sept 1967 [30 Dec 1966] 58322/66 Heading G2J Apparatus responsive to electro-magnetic radiation, particularly infra-red, comprises a part-spherical reflecting means 1 including an objective mirror 7 and correcting meniscus elements 8 which receive an infra-red signal 2 and form a part-spherical image I. Arranged on the centre of curvature C of the mirror 7 and image I is the shaft 9 of a disc 4 having a radius R equal to the radius of curvature of the image I. The disc has three radiation transmission paths 10, 11, 12 connected to a radiation transmission path 13 extending along the shaft 9 to a radiometer 6, each of these paths being formed by optical fibres. An arcuate shield extends for 240 degrees around the disc 4 so that as the latter is rotated the image I is scanned through 120 degrees by the three paths 10, 11, 12 in succession.
