Abstract

1324094 Windows JOSEF GARTNER & CO 27 July 1970 [26 July 1969] 36341/70 Heading E1J A sliding window comprises a sash frame 3 with a groove in an inner surface and a rib 4 on an outer surface, one side portion of the groove carrying a roller 18, an outer frame member 6 having a groove 16 for the roller and a flange 7 for abutment with the rib. Two slidable sashes 1, 2, Fig. 1 have ribs 4 on each outer side. When the sashes are closed, ribs 4 abut flanges 7 of side frame members 6, and are located between flanges 7a on top and bottom frame members 5, and abut member 9 secured on the lower sash. Side frame member 6 contains grooves 16, 51, 52, 50 for the rollers. To open the window, handle 12 is moved inwardly and then upwardly, rollers 18 of sash 2 moving in grooves 51, 52 and then in groove 50. The two sashes are connected to a cable 27, Fig. 4 passing over a pulley 28 which is rotatable on a member 30 secured to a rail 29 which is slidably adjustable in groove 16 of the frame 6. Thus, as sash 2 moves upwardly sash 1 moves downwardly, its rollers moving in groove 16. Member 9 contains a locking mechanism comprising pinion (13) and racks (14) carrying rods (15). Rotation of the pinion by handle 12 extends rods (15) into grooves 16.
