Abstract
1323599 Corona charging apparatus RANK XEROX Ltd 5 Nov 1970 [8 Nov 1969] 52677/70 Heading H1X [Also in Division G2] A plurality of parallel needle electrodes 104 on a carrier member 105 each have a frictional or releasable holding means to enable each needle to be moved axially for the charging of a curved surface 102. The holding means may be a rubber bush (Fig. 6a), leaf spring (Fig. 6b), a resilient portion of the carrier member (Fig. 6c), or an electromagnet (Fig. 7). A spaced auxiliary carrier plate (Fig. 8) may help to maintain the needles parallel. An earthed cylindrical guard round alternate needles (Fig. 9) may be fixed or movable with the respective needle. Charging may be effected by scanning or with the needles stationary, the arrangement of the needles being two or three dimensional.
