1322669 Photo-electric testing ERNST LEITZ GmbH 17 June 1971 [18 June 1970 10 April 1971] 28475/71 Heading G1A [Also in Division G2] A photo-metric microscope comprises a photometer assembly 4 including a light source 45, a reference object 42, and detecting means 44; an illumination assembly to illuminate the object 15a to be investigated; viewing assembly 3; an imaging assembly 2, for providing an image to be viewed by assembly 3, having a beam splitter 22 to split light from the object investigated into a first component passed to viewing assembly 3, and a second component passed to photo-meter assembly 4, and, in conjunction with cube-cover reflector 23, to guide light from the reference object to the viewing assembly 3; and beam deflecting means, e.g. movable mirror 43, actuatable between a first position (as shown), in which light from the reference object is passed to assembly 3, and a second position in which light from the object to be investigated is transmitted to the detecting means 44. The output of the photo-meter may be used to produce a signal at 50 which, via polarizing filters 52 and movable mirror 27a may be observed at the eye-piece. Alternatively, the mirror 27a may be semireflecting and possibly fixed. Shutter 27 ensures that no light from the eye-piece enters the photometer when this is in the light path, e.g. by synchronizing movement of the shutter 27 and mirror 43. The photo-meter assembly may be incorporated in housing 2 Fig.4 (not shown). Housings 1, 2, 3 and 4 may be detachably connected together.
