Abstract

1320050 Screwdrivers ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 29 Nov 1971 [30 Nov 1970] 55372/71 Heading B3N Apparatus for driving screws comprises a power drive 11 for rotating a spindle 12 which can be switched-off when a screw has been driven an initial amount into a workpiece, and an independent power source 36 for rotating the spindle 12 through a torque spanner 28 connected to the spindle through a freewheel device 23, the torque spanner having a rigid arm 30 and a flexible torque-applying arm 29 which coact to switch-off the independent power drive when the screw has been suitably tightened. Piston-rod 37 is pivotably connected to flexible arm 29 and its position thereon can be adjusted. The independent power drive is disconnected when a screw 33 triggers a switch 32. The screw is adjustable. Both the power drives are pneumatically operated. In operation after power drive 11 is stopped, power drive 36 indexes the torque spanner until arm 29 bends to allow screw 33 to operate switch 32.
