1319653 Optical glass compositions SOC DES VERRERIES INDUSTRIELLES REUNIES DU LOING 10 July 1970 [10 July 1969] 33650/70 Heading C1M An optical glass composition consists of, in percentages by weight:- and one or more bivalent metals MO 30-40 with and 3-12À3 of one or more of the compounds Nb 2 O 5 ; Al 2 O 3 ; ZrO 2 ; Ta 2 O 5 ; WO 3 and M<SP>1</SP> 2 O where M<SP>1</SP> is an alkali metal. The glasses are particularly useful as the core for sheathed fibres. The coefficients of thermal expansion lie between 85 and 98 x 10<SP>-7</SP> and are suitable for sealing to glass, ceramics and metals of similar coefficients.
