Abstract

1318640 Glass laser compositions OWENSILLINOIS Inc 2 July 1970 32107/70 Heading C1M [Also in Divisions C4 and H1] A glass laser composition with a low coefficient of thermal expansion includes 54 to 80 weight per cent of SiO 2 , 4 to 34À5 weight per cent of Al 2 O 3 and 1 to 8 weight per cent of Nd 2 O 3 as the laserable component. Optional ingredients, together with their maximum weight per cent are 5À5 CaO, 1À3 ZnO, 10À1 BaO, 10 MgO, 5À5 Li 2 O, 10 Na 2 O, 1À8 TiO 2 and 5 ZrO 2 . A laser rod is prepared from a melt, specific compositions of which may be:-
