Abstract

1319591 Bearings DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 6 July 1970 [6 April 1969] 11913/69 Heading F2A The rollers 10 of a roller bearing are each shaped to define at least four coaxial alternately orientated frusto-conical surfaces 14, wherein alternate surfaces engage corresponding frustoconical surfaces provided on one of two races 11, 12 between which the rollers are arranged, while the remaining surfaces engage corresponding frusto-conical surfaces provided on the other race. The outer race 12 may be made in halves shaped to mate on lines lying at an angle to the bearing axis and held together by a ring 16 shrunk into position. The angle α between adjacent conical surfaces is preferably in the range 30-120 degrees.
