Abstract

1317905 Charging blast furnaces K C SHARP 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 8207/70 Heading F4B Apparatus for charging a large high pressure blast furnace comprises three bells 3 in the main bell hopper B synchronized to open together, the bells being disposed substantially in a horizontal plane. The upper bell hopper is fed by two endless conveyers 1. The bells 3 are actuated by counter-weighted levers on the bell platform through rods 6 and distribution of the charge material in the hopper B is effected by replaceable deflector plates 4. The blast furnace may have a throat diameter of 9-10 metres or more.
