1317617 Laminates NATIONAL RESEARCH CORP 1 July 1970 [2 July 1969] 31783/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division C7] An article of e.g. titanium alloys, steel, aluminium, glass fibre reinforced plastics or boron or carbon fibre reinforced metals or plastics is coated by vapour deposition with boron carbide of thickness greater than 0À3 mils. In a modification, Fig. 2, the boron carbide 201 may be deposited on e.g. an aluminium, titanium or plastic foil 202 which may then be laminated by an adhesive or brazing layer to e.g. a glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin panel 204. In a further modification (Fig. 2B, not shown) boron carbide may be deposited on both sides of a polyimide film which may be bonded to a substrate.
