Abstract

1315831 Sealing rings A-T-O Inc 12 June 1970 28610/60 Heading F2T A sealing ring assembly, e.g. for a piston 13 in an hydraulic cylinder 11, comprises a pair of rigid split rings 16, 17 adapted to lie within a groove 15 of the piston 13 and a resilient ring 18, e.g. of rubber, for urging the split rings 16, 17 into sealing contact with the cylinder wall. Recesses (25), Figs. 2-3 (not shown), cut in radially directed flanges of the rings 16, 17 cooperate with lugs (33), (34), Figs. 4-5 (not shown), of the ring 18 to locate the rings in fixed relative position. The rings 16, 17 may be of moulded nylon, possibly containing about 30% glass fibres and 2-5% molybdenum disulphide as a filler, and the ring 18 may have rounded edges, Fig. 7 (not shown), to prevent extrusion.
