Abstract

1315703 Electric transformers ELECTRICITE DE FRANCE 11 May 1970 [9 May 1969] 22730/70 Heading HIT [Also in Division H4] A transformer (Fig. 3) having different degrees of coupling between primary and secondary in the two directions, comprises at least one core limb 13 of high reluctance surrounded by a primary coil P and at least one core limb 11, 15 of weaker reluctance surrounded by a secondary coil S 1 , S 2 . Core limbs 12, 14 of an intermediate reluctance may be provided. Air gaps 22, 23, 24 are provided, gap 23 being longer than 22 and 24 and core limb 13 is of smaller cross-sectional area than cores 11, 12, 14, 15. Fig. 4, shows another embodiment using a single secondary coil which surrounds the primary and the inner core limbs. In either embodiment flux generated by signals picked up by the secondaries is "shunted" via the intermediate limbs while flux generated by the primary passes easily through limbs 11, 15.
