Abstract

1314746 Tapping molten metals DIDIER WERKE AG 1 Sept 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 40821/71 Heading F4B [Also in Division F2] A rotary sliding closure of a casting ladle or a tundish having a refractory lining 12, comprises a stationary nozzle plate 14 having an outlet passage 18 and a rotatable outlet member 16 having an outlet passage 20, the passages 18 and 20 being moved into and out of register by rotation of the member 16. The axis of rotation 22 of the member is inclined to the longitudinal axis of the passage 18 at an acute angle preferably 2-20 degrees, and intersects that axis in a plane containing the external exit opening 24. Therefore, on rotation of member 16, the exit opening 24 remains in the same position. The members 14 and 16 are supported in a nozzle casing which is adapted to form a preassembled unit with the members 14 and 16.
