Abstract

1314672 Tractor power lift mechanism NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 26 May 1970 [27 Feb 1969] 10474/69 Heading A1P A three point lift mechanism is arranged so that both upper and lower links AB and CD respectively respond only to that component of force acting on the implement which is parallel to the tractor wheelbase. Rods 3, 5 set in springs 2, 6 respectively respond to tension or compression in the above mentioned links. Spring loaded lever 4 receives movement from rods 3 and 5 (from the latter via a Bowden Cable) and acts on control rod 8, the ratio a/b being the ratio of the ratio of springs 2 and 6 respectively. Control rod 8 acts on balance lever 9 which actuates the power lift cranks 23 via tie rod 11 and hydraulic valve 12. Variation of draft force causes the lift linkage to be raised or lowered so the working depth of the implement will be altered to keep the draft force substantially constant. In further embodiments both upper and lower links may be connected to their respective rods via vertical levers, or vertical flexible cantilever plates or electrical pressure transducers can be used as the draft force sensing means. The power lift may also be raised or lowered by means of an electric motor controlled by a switch replacing control valve 12. Upper link AB may be so arranged that the forward extension of its axis intersects that of the lower link CD at a point in front of the tractor rear axle to improve draft control on pitching.
