Abstract

1314239 Friction clutches JEAN WALTERSCHEID KG 10 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969 4 March 1970] 43419/70 Heading F2C A friction clutch comprises two clutch plates 1, 2 fast on a shaft 25 engaged under the pressure of an annular plate spring 26, Fig. 2, by plates 3, 4 to be forced into contact with a flywheel and a housing 8 respectively. The pressure plates 3, 4 are connected to the housing 8 by straps 14. To simultaneously disengage the plates 1, 2 pivoted levers 9 are moved counterclockwise and act through a pull rod 10 and push rod 11 adjustable by screws 16, 15 respectively. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the spring 26 is secured to the plate 4 by studs 17 in a central bore the external periphery of the spring being rotationally fast with an intermediate ring 27 attached to the straps 14. The intermediate ring 27, spring 26, and plate 3 have recesses housing balls 18 so that limited angular movement is possible through the elasticity of the spring 26. Rollers 24 on the rods 10, 11 permit the limited movement. In the embodiment of Fig. 7 a backing ring 12 is interposed between plate springs 5, 6 fastened to the plates 3, 4. Balls again being interposed between the springs and the ring 12 to permit limited angular movement.
