Abstract

1312999 Magnet alloys PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Sept 1970 [18 September 1969] 44019/70 Heading C7A A magnet alloy containing in percentage by weight CO 28-42 Ni 10-20 Al 6-10 Cu 2-8 Ti 4-10 Fe balance and having a segregation temperature at least 25‹C higher than the Curie temperature of the α' phase, is homogenised and is then subjected to elastic deformation while being heat-treated to decompose the homogeneous phase into a Fe-Co rich phase (α') and a Ni-Al rich phase (α). The deformation may be effected between the segregation temperature and the Curie temperature of the (α') phase, and may be accompanied or followed by application of a magnetic field. Preferably the applied stresses are such that a tensile force is developed in the body in the easy axis of magnetization.
