Abstract
1312740 Retractive switches STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 2 Dec 1971 55964/71 Heading H1N A push-button switch has one or more portions 10, 11, of conductive rubber or the like separated from tracks 5, 6, on a circuit board 4 by an insulating layer 7, 8, 9 with gaps in it, each gap being aligned with one of said portions 10, 11, whereby when the button 1 is depressed the conductive material 10, 11 is forced through the gaps in said insulation 7, 8, 9 and into engagement with said tracks 5, 6, to complete one or more circuits, and on release of the button 1 the resilience of the rubber or rubber-like material restores the button 1 to its rest position in which said one or more circuits are broken. As shown, the button 1 is retained in a panel 3 by an enlarged base, and a flexible plastics layer 12, 13, 14 provides a seal. The portions 10, 11 may be separate, or different parts of a disc. The button 1 is of transparent insulating material and accommodates an indicator lamp 2. The insulation 7, 8, 9 is, for example, 0À005 inch thick.
