Abstract

1312699 Vehicles CONVEYANCER Ltd 11 Oct 1971 [10 Oct 1970] 48257/70 Heading B7H [Also in Division H2] A battery-electric industrial truck, e.g. a lift truck is provided with an alternator 3, driven by an I.C. engine 2, whose output is rectified at 7 and used to charge the battery 1 of the truck while the truck is in use. The engine 2 may be of the petrol or diesel type or may run on liquefied petroleum gas. An engine exhaust purifier may be used. To avoid pollution in, e.g. food warehouses the engine 2 may be stopped and restarted automatically upon entering and leaving the building respectively. This may be done by radio signals transmitted from the doorway of the warehouse and received by the vehicle. Two alternators or three three-phase alternators may be used. The engine 2 may have a constant-speed governor.
