Abstract
1311632 Photoconductive composition FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 15 Jan 1971 [16 Jan 1970] 2194/71 Heading H1K A photoconductive composition comprising photoconductive zinc oxide powder dispersed in a binder, wherein the zinc oxide powder is a mixture of (a) zinc oxide powder wherein not less than 60 wt. per cent of the particles have a diameter of not less than 1 micron and the powder has an average diameter of not less than 1À2 microns and (b) zinc oxide powder wherein not less than 70 wt. per cent of the particles have a diameter not more than 1 micron and the powder has an average diameter not more than 0À8 micron, the ratio by weight of particles (a) to particles (b) being within the range 4: 6 to 1:9. The average size for particles (a) is preferably 1À98 Á and that for particles (b) is 0À62 Á. In an embodiment particles (a) and (b) are mixed with a styrenated alkyd resin and a polyisocyanate varnish in butyl acetate and coated on an aluminized polyethylene terephthalate film. The coated film is heated to 50 C. to cure the resin and give an electrophotographic element having a matt surface with semi-spherical agglomerates of 30-50 Á diameter. The surface of the element is uniformly coarse and free from "edge" effects in use. Other binders are specified.
