1310660 Damping device for railway bogie vehicles GLOUCESTER RAILWAY CARRIAGE & WAGON CO Ltd 8 May 1970 [13 May 1969] 17023/72 Divided out of 1309637 Heading B7L A railway vehicle includes a bogie having a part 45 carrying a friction pad 46 on which rests the downwardly facing surface of a part 47 of the superstructure to damp relative rotation between the bogie and superstructure during travel of the vehicle along straight track, the bogie also carrying rollers 49 which engage in recesses 50 in the part 47; when the vehicle negotiates a curve the rollers move out of engagement with the recesses 50 and support the superstructure by contacting the downwardly facing surface, causing vertical movement between the pad 46 and part 47 and reducing or removing the frictional restraint therebetween. The parts 45 and 47 are preferably lower and upper side bearers respectively. The rollers are resiliently supported from the side bearer 45 by an elastomeric block of chevron form 48.
