Abstract

1309556 Bearing fabrics AMPEP INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS Ltd 19 April 1971 [23 Dec 1969] 62690/69 Heading D1K [Also in Division F2] A bearing fabric is woven from warp yarns 1 of polytetrafluoroethylene, warp yarns 2 of carbon fibres, weft yarns 3 of p.t.f.e. predominating on the bearing face of the fabric and glass fibre weft yarns 4 predominating on the rear face of the fabric. The carbon fibre yarns may be sized with thermoplastic or thermosetting resin prior to weaving. The fabric of Fig. 2 is similar to that of Fig. 1 except that glass fibre warp ends 5 are used. The bearing fabric may be laminated with a formaldehyde impregnated glass fabric and cured to form a part spherical bearing which may be subsequently machined.
