Abstract

1308604 Coating particles with metal BALLOTINI EUROPE (DEUTSCHLAND) GmbH 3 March 1970 [13 March 1969 1 Jan 1970] 42/72 and 40/70 Divided out of 1308603 Heading C7F Substrate particles are mixed with particles of coating metal, e.g. Ag, Sn, Cu, Cr, Al, brass, bronze, Au, Ni, Fe, Co, Rh, Pt, Pd, and the whole heated to cause at least some of the metal to become fluid and deposit on the particles, which may be kept separate by passing a gas therethrough. The metal may be heated by feeding it to a flame spray gun or a plasma torch. The particles may be coated all over or in spots depending on the amount of metal present. The substrate particles may be hollow and may be glass, ceramic or plastics, e.g. polystyrene, methylmethacrylate, nylon, acetal, a.b.s., cellulosic resins, fluoroplastics, polycarbonates, polyethylene, polypropyline, polysulphones, polyphenylene oxide, p.v.c., styrene-acrylonitrile, alkyd and epoxy resins, melamine, phenol-formaldehyde, phenolic and polyester resins, silicones, urea-formaldehyde or urethanes.
