Abstract

1308221 Platform elevators; cradles NATIONAL HOUSE INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd and NIPPON STEEL CORP 20 March 1970 [20 March 1969 (2)] 13586/70 Heading B8H [Also in Division E1] A multi-storey building is erected by first constructing a three-dimensional skeleton framework A and a series of prefabricated room units B, then mounting each unit on a carrier C which is lifted into alignment with a given space in the framework whereby the unit is then moved horizontally into position and fixed to the framework. The carrier is provided with lifting lugs 11, flanged guide rollers 12 and a belt, chain or roller conveyer 10 which may be vertically adjusted by a series of jacks 25. Smooth belts may be used or belts having projections to engage projections on the underside of the unit B. Alternatively, the unit may be provided with a pair of racks on its underside to be engaged by toothed guide wheels rotatably mounted on the base. The conveyer may be driven by an electric motor through suitable reduction gearing or the carrier may be provided with frictional wheels rotatably mounted on the base in which case the unit B is moved manually or by means of a winch pulley arrangement.
