Abstract

1307842 Intake manifolds ROVER CO Ltd 14 July 1970 [24 April 1969] 20917/69 Heading F1B An intake manifold for a multi-cylinder V, H or horizontally-opposed engine, comprises a ring portion 10 with two sets of induction pipes extending inwardly from side limbs thereof in substantially opposite directions to respective common flanges 17 for attachments to the heads of respective cylinder banks of the engine. Inlets may be provided in end limbs 12 or, as shown, inlets 14 are provided in the side limbs 11. Each induction pipe may be provided with a fuel injector 22, in which case the manifold is provided with an air cleaner and silencer, e.g. of the pancake type, which may form a part of the manifold. Alternatively, the manifold is provided with twin carburetters and the injectors are omitted.
